He has extensive experience in advising clients on the full range of US, European and Indian legal issues in connection with international mergers and acquisitions,
privatizations, financings and infrastructure transactions, and European and Indian laws on
competition, state assistance, trade and intellectual property. He attended all of the EU Council
negotiation meetings leading to the adoption of the EU Merger Control Regulation and assisted in
the drafting of the implementing regulations and guidelines issued by the EU Commission.
Anand has degrees in Law and Economics from Delhi University, India, University of
Cambridge, UK, and Yale University, USA. His European practice experience includes working
in the EU Commission’s Legal Service, Competition Division, and in the European Court of
Justice in Luxembourg. He is admitted to practice law in Ohio and California in the US and in
India and has practiced corporate and antitrust law in the Brussels, Cleveland, Palo Alto and Paris
offices of Jones Day.
Anand was presented with the National Law Day Award – 2005 by the Prime Minister of

India for his unique contribution in the field of corporate law and for bringing foreign
investments into India. He was awarded “Best M&A Lawyer in India in 2008” and “India
M&A .Legal Counsel of the Year” in 2009. He is also listed in The International Who’s Who of
Competition Lawyers (2009 and 2010). He is a frequent writer on corporate and regulatory
matters and his articles have been published in several leading legal and business journals in the
US, Europe and India.
Since his earliest days in the U. S. Congress 30 years ago, Al Gore has been the leading advocate for confronting the threat of global warming. His pioneering efforts were outlined in his best-selling book Earth in the Balance: Ecology and the Human Spirit (1992). He led the Clinton-Gore Administration's efforts to protect the environment in a way that also strengthens the economy.
Al Gore was born on March 31, 1948, the son of former U.S. Senator Albert Gore, Sr. and Pauline Gore. Raised in Carthage, Tennessee, and Washington, D.C., he received a degree in government with honors from Harvard University in 1969. After graduation, he volunteered for enlistment in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. Upon returning from Vietnam, Al Gore became an investigative reporter with the Tennessean in Nashville, where he also attended Vanderbilt University's Divinity School and then Law School.
Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, reside in Nashville, Tennessee. They have four children- Karenna, Kristin, Sarah, and Albert III; and three grandchildren: Wyatt Gore Schiff, Anna Hunger Schiff, and Oscar Aitcheson Schiff.

Markus Pfenninger
Markus Pfenninger was awarded a Ph.D. from the Law School of the University of Zurich and was admitted to the bar in Zurich in 1991. He received an LL.M. from the Morin Center of Banking Law Studies, Boston University. He worked as a foreign associate for Batterymarch Financial Management, Boston, where he contributed to the structuring and rescheduling of a number of private placements and public offering transactions; he continued to work on various US domestic IPO's as foreign associate with Goodwin, Procter & Hoar, a Boston based law firm. He joined Walder Wyss & Partners in 1995 to focus on banking & finance and corporate transactional work. Markus Pfenninger became a partner in 2000, and his fields of expertise include capital market transactions, restructurings, collective investment schemes, as well as banking and insurance regulatory matters. He is a past chair of the International Bar Association’s (IBA) Sub-committee on Legal Opinions and a past co-chair of the IBA’s Banking Law Committee.

onboard nuclear submarines. His duties included supervising the operation and maintenance of the ship’s
nuclear power plant and related equipment, as well as weapons and communications systems. He also
served as an acquisition engineer, responsible for research and development projects, procurement and lifecycle
support for Navy communications equipment.
