Michael Burian

Michael Burian is a partner at Gleiss Lutz, one of Germany’s leading international firms. Michael mainly works on cross-border matters for Asian investors in Europe with a particular focus on corporate / M and A and competition law issues. Michael joined the Stuttgart office of Gleiss Lutz in 2002. From 2006 to 2008, Michael was seconded to the Tokyo office of Herbert Smith.

Cedric C. Chao

Cedric C. Chao co-chairs Morrison & Foerster’s international arbitration practice, and focuses on commercial litigation, international arbitration, and white collar criminal defense. He has firstchaired numerous U.S. jury and court trials, and high stakes international commercial arbitration disputes. Mr. Chao is listed in the Guide to the World’s Leading Litigation Lawyers 2008, as well as the Guide to the World’s Leading Experts in Commercial Arbitration 2008. Asia Law includes him on its “Asia Law Leading Lawyers 2009” list for dispute resolution in Asia. Chambers USA 2009 designates him as a “recommended lawyer” on its national list of international arbitration specialists. IBA Who’s Who Legal: California (2009) names Mr. Chao one of 16 leading arbitration specialists in California, of whom only five are advocates. Mr. Chao was educated at Stanford University and Harvard Law School.

Chia Der Jiun

Der Jiun is Executive Director concurrently of the Prudential Policy Department and the Macroeconomic Surveillance Department, Monetary Authority of Singapore and is responsible for assessing risks to financial stability and for developing capital and prudential regulations for the financial sector. He led the implementation of the Basel II framework and the deposit insurance scheme in Singapore, and is currently reviewing international regulatory reforms and strengthening the prudential regulatory framework in Singapore. Der Jiun graduated in 1993 from Worcester College, Oxford with a BA(Hons) in politics and economics and holds an MBA(with distinction) from INSEAD.

Wilson Chu

Mr. Chu is a partner in the Dallas office of K&L Gates, LLP (www.klgates.com). His practice focuses on mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions in a broad range of industries, with significant experience in cross-border transactions in and from the Asia-Pacific region.

Mr. Chu is a frequent faculty member at leading M&A seminars and institutes in the United States and abroad, and frequently authors articles on a wide variety of M&A-related legal topics. He is the creator the M&A Deal Points Study, a groundbreaking benchmark study which is now an integral publication of the American Bar Association s Committee on Mergers & Acquisitions (with which he is in active leadership, including, his role as a Founding Co-Chair of its M&A Market Trends Subcommittee).
